Bartlett Tree Experts, Stamford, Connecticut, has acquired tree care businesses Living Tree Inc., West Chester, Pennsylvania, and Kirchner Tree Service, Ellicott City, Maryland. The acquisitions were completed as a move to extend and enhance Bartlett’s East Coast presence.
Bartlett has 149 operations in 39 U.S. states, Canada, Ireland and Great Britain. Finalized Oct. 7, its new West Chester location joins the company’s over 20 offices in Pennsylvania.
“This acquisition allows us to better service the areas between West Chester and Reading, Pa.,” says John Smithmyer, vice president of Bartlett’s Mid-Atlantic Division. “Living Tree, LLC. has prided itself on providing mature tree preservation for many years. The business was a natural fit for us because they had a similar philosophy to ours: doing great tree work with an emphasis on excellent customer service.”
The West Chester office will allow Bartlett to extend its tree and shrub care services in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania.

Completed Sept. 24, Bartlett’s new Ellicott City location joins the company’s 10 additional offices in Maryland.

The Ellicott City office will allow Bartlett to extend into Howard and Baltimore counties in Maryland.
“We have enjoyed a relationship with the owner of Kirchner Tree Service for more than 20 years,” says Ingram. “During that time, our people have developed a mutual respect for each other as arborists, which has helped us provide a seamless transition for all involved.”
