Sperber Landscape Companies, Westlake, California, has entered a partnership with Bemus Landscape Inc., Orange County, California. The partnership marks Sperber’s return to Southern California after Burt Sperber founded ValleyCrest, his endeavor prior to his launch of Sperber Landscape Companies, over 70 years ago.

Bemus was founded by Bill Bemus in 1973 as a provider of commercial landscape services in Orange County, San Diego and the Inland Empire. Bemus retired from day-to-day operations in 2017.

“The Sperber partnership creates an exciting new chapter for the company my family has carefully built throughout the last six decades,” says Bemus. “We have a longstanding relationship with the Sperber Family, and I feel confident and comfortable joining forces with them for this next phase of Bemus’ growth.”

Following his retirement in 2017, Bemus’ three sons Colin, Corin and Spencer Bemus lead the company. Through the partnership, the three sons were made shareholders in the company.

“When evaluating a variety of potential partners, it was important for us to choose a parent company that had a deep understanding of the nuances of our industry,” says Corin Bemus, CEO of Bemus. “Sperber’s seven decades of experience in landscaping reinforces our confidence that this partnership will allow us to retain our culture, treat our employees well and take care of our clients properly.”

“We are excited at the opportunity to partner with the Bemus Family and work towards the shared vision of becoming Southern California’s leading landscape service provider,” says Richard Sperber, Sperber Landscape Companies’ managing partner. “We not only view Southern California as a market of unmatched growth, but it is also where we call ‘home.’”
